Justin Timberlake & Alexandre Desplat Among Winners At Hollywood Music In Media Awards

Some big names were in the winner’s circle for the seventh annual Hollywood Music in Media Awards last night. Among the composers taking home the hardware were Oscar winners Alexandre Desplat and Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross along with Justin Timberlake, John Debney and Nicholas Britell.

Britell took the Original Score – Dramatic Feature prize for Moonlight, Debney scooped the Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film award for The Jungle Book, and Desplat drew the Animated Film trophy for The Secret Life of Pets. Timberlake shared the Song – Animated Film prize with co-writers Max Martin and Shellback for “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” the global chart-topper from Trolls, and Nine Inch Nails frontman Reznor and his frequent collaborator Ross scoring the Song – Documentary hardware for “A Minute to Breathe” from Before the Flood.

The awards, which honors music composition in film, TV, video games, commercials and trailers, were doled Thursday night at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood. Ron Pearson hosted the ceremony, and performers included singer-songwriters Melissa Manchester and Melanie.
