'Hollywood elite' Reese Witherspoon slammed for supporting a question Supreme Court nominee Kavanaugh was asked about abortion

Reese Witherspoon speaks her mind, y’all — and that will never change.

The Oscar-winning actress has been getting heat for a tweet she posted, amid Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings, about abortion. Witherspoon retweeted California Sen. Kamala Harris‘s post showing a question she asked Kavanaugh about government influence over males, as well as the answer he gave after stuttering, stammering, and asking for clarification. Witherspoon used emojis to point to the Q&A, writing, “THIS.”

We assume that Witherspoon hit “tweet” knowing exactly what the comments would be — she’s savvy from having navigated Hollywood for so long — and the replies came quickly about how she’s just part of the “Hollywood elites” and that she shouldn’t share her political beliefs on Twitter (despite the commenters being able to). One reply called her “ridiculous” for having an opinion while another commenter told her “don’t speak politics.”

Others used Witherspoon’s comment as an opportunity to rip Sen. Harris in the crudest and most disgusting — but sadly not surprising — way.

Not that Witherspoon is weeping over any of this, but among her 2.3 million followers she got a ton of support. Oh, and a plot suggestion for Legally Blonde 3.

Witherspoon, who is a mom of three in addition to being one of Hollywood’s biggest stars (in front of and behind the camera producing), was a Hillary Clinton supporter in the 2016 election. She has said that she portrayed a young version of Clinton when she was Tracy Flick in 1999’s Election. As for how she feels about President Trump, the expression on her face after being asked about him lifting part of her character’s Legally Blonde speech seems to say it all. And we expect she’d make a similar expression if she read the comments on Thursday’s tweet.
