While Nashville is never hurting for good live music, the month of December adds Christmas and holiday-related shows to sweeten the pot. Whether its getting to hear the Biblical story in Andrew Peterson's "Behold the Lamb of God," or the Trans-Siberian Orchestra's electronic take on holiday music, there's something for everyone this season. Here's a rundown of our top must-see Christmas and holiday shows during the month of December:

Dec. 4: Andrew Peterson 'Behold the Lamb of God'

This year marks the 20th year of Peterson's "Behold the Lamb of God" at the Ryman. The show has been described as a "... folk-roots infused rendition of the Christmas story as it is foreshadowed in the Old Testament and brought to bear in the New." Featuring special guest artists including Jess Ray, The Arcadian Wild, Andy Gullahorn, Jill Phillips, and Skye Peterson along with an all-star cast of Nashville songwriters and musicians, this is a truly unique telling of the true story behind Christmas. Dec. 10: Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder Christmas

Bluegrass legend and Country Music Hall of Famer Ricky Skaggs told The Tennessean the reason he loves Christmas so much is because it's a time of year when we think of others and not ourselves. "We love singing songs about the greatest birth in history, Jesus Christ," Skaggs said of his Ryman show. "We will be performing some of the old standards we’ve all grown up with, but we will also have some instrumentals and songs that you might not be familiar with."
