Holden's visions bleed into reality in Beyond season 2 trailer

Holden (Burkely Duffield) has been out of his coma for two months, but he’s not out of the woods.

When the cast and executive producers of Beyond gathered for a New York Comic Con panel on Saturday, they debuted a season 2 trailer that teases some bloody, fiery new challenges for Holden Matthews — and everyone around him. Executive producers Adam Nussdorf, David Eick, and Tim Kring revealed that this season will focus on Holden’s struggle over whether or not he wants to embrace his powers (or “talents,” according to the EPs) and the consequences of his actions during season 1.

“Season 1 was about Holden going to the realm. Season 2 is about the realm coming to Holden,” teased Eick.

The executive producers were joined on the panel by series stars Duffield, Dilan Gwyn, and new series regular Eden Brolin, who teased that their characters’ love triangle is about to get even more complicated. Even relationships that seemed to be the endgame last season might be in danger — the EPs aren’t afraid to let the show evolve into something they didn’t initially plan.

“When you see two characters that have chemistry with one another, you’re like, ‘Oh, let’s go that direction,'” said Eick, who added that any show that claims to have its whole path mapped out is either lying or wrong.

The panel also revealed that season 2 of the Freeform drama will return with a two-hour premiere on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at 8 p.m. ET. But fans looking for a preview are in luck — the network will air a half-hour extended sneak peek, featuring behind-the-scenes secrets, of the upcoming season on Thursday, Dec. 28, at 10:30 p.m. ET.
