Historic buildings in this metro Phoenix city transform into a steakhouse and a coffee shop

The team behind Chandler's Brickyard Downtown and Hidden House restaurants, including cofounders Gavin Jacobs and Jackie Hall along with director of operations Michael Reagan, announced recently that the hospitality group is expanding with two new restaurant openings.

Elliott’s Steakhouse is now open and Maple House will open soon. The former, built in a former movie theatre, is meant to impart the opulence of 1920s. The latter, an Italian café, will open in a historic cottage.

"The impetus behind these two brands was to provide Downtown Chandler with an iconic, first-class dining experience, and a casual space primed for creativity, productivity and socializing," the group posted on Instagram.

What to know about Elliott's Steakhouse in Chandler

Elliott's Steakhouse was built inside the former Rowena Theater, which opened in 1932. Though, later, it became a grocery store.

The steakhouse honors the building's past with its design, including a 40-foot bar, grand arches and jazz music, along with the menu.

The name is an homage to the late Elliott Hall, one of the partners who opened Hidden House and The Brickyard, along with his wife Jackie and Jacobs.
