Hillary Clinton Concedes Election To Donald Trump – Update
UPDATE, 11:40 PM: Well, tomorrow came pretty quick in Clintontown in TVland as CNN and Fox News Channel are reporting that the ex-Secretary of State has called Donald Trump and conceed the election. Citing soruces in the Hillary Clinton campaign just minutes after John Podesta told supporters in NYC to wait until Wednesday morning, CNN’s Dana Bash said the two candidates have spoken.
The ex-Apprentice host is now about to speak to his supporters after one of the biggest upsets in American history. In a rare move for a candidate, Clinton has chosen not to speak to the nation -even though her campaign chair said less than half an hour earlier that they wanted to make sure every vote was counted and there would be more to say tomorrow.
PREVIOUSLY, 11:23 PM: Hillary Clinton once said that she was the last thing standing between you and the apocalypse – well, turns out she plans on standing there a bit longer even though Donald Trump seems poised to become the 45th President of the United States.
“Well folks, it’s been a long night and it’s been a long campaign, but I can say we can wait a little long, can’t we? ” Clinton campaign chair John Podesta told the remaining supporters at NYC’s Javits Center tonight. “They’re still counting votes and every vote should count,” the former White House Chief of Staff added at 2:02 AM ET in language reminiscent of the disputed 2000 election. “Several states are too close to call so we’re not going to have anything more to say tonight.”
“We’ll have more to say tomorrow,” the much-hacked Podesta told the crowd, confirming that the candidate herself would not be speaking tonight or this morning depending on your time zone. “We’ll be back, we’ll have more to say, let’s get those votes counted and let’s bring this home.”
The tactic of the Clinton campaign to not concede immediately as the math seemed to go solidly not in her favor got pundits pointing fingers across the political spectrum and bring up what Trump’s remarks in the third Presidential debate that he wouldn’t commit to accepting the election’s results. In recent days, Trump has said again “we’ll see how it plays out.” In that vein, it has played out amazingly well for the GOP contender, who seemingly has just arrived at his own HQ for what will be a version of a victory speech.
