Hillary & Chelsea Clinton’s Produced Documentary Is Already Getting Oscar Buzz

Along with Hillary Clinton being a former First Lady and her daughter Chelsea Clinton being a part of a former first family, they’ve added many ventures to their resumes. Both have done public speaking, written beloved books like Chelsea’s children’s book such as She Persisted, and are both Ivy League graduates; but this new venture comes as a bit of a shock. Both of them have stepped into their producer roles this year.

Earlier in 2023, Hillary produced a film called Below the Belt, while Chelsea produced two last year, and another in early 2023 entitled How Haba Kept Singing. However, they joined forces to produce a film that’s already getting Oscar buzz.

The documentary they produced is entitled In the Shadow of Beirut, which has been described as “a searing, cinematic portrait of modern-day Lebanon as seen through the eyes of four families living in the city,” per VIP.

The film directed by Stephen Gerard Kelly and Garry Keane has gained a lot of awards, and recognition, and has now been chosen as Ireland’s official entry the upcoming Academy Awards. Specifically, it’s been entered to be a contender for the Best International Feature Film category.

The upcoming Oscars won’t take place until March 10, 2024, but they actually decide the nominees months prior. For the 96th annual Academy Awards, the Academy will officially decide the nominees on Jan. 23, 2024.
