Hilary Swank, Katherine Waterston join Steven Soderbergh's 'Logan Lucky'

Steven Soderbergh has two more reasons to feel fortunate: The director’s NASCAR-themed heist film Logan Lucky has added Hilary Swank to its cast, and Katherine Waterston is also in talks for a role, EW can confirm.

The Million Dollar Baby leading lady and the Inherent Vice actress join a star-studded ensemble that also includes Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, Daniel Craig, Katherine Heigl, Seth MacFarlane, and Riley Keough.

Marking Soderbergh’s return to feature filmmaking after a three-year hiatus, Logan Lucky is to tell the story of two brothers trying to pull off a robbery at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina.

Pre-production shooting began last month at the Coca-Cola 600, and the film is tentatively scheduled to arrive in fall 2017.

Swank’s other screen projects in the works include the courtroom drama 55 Steps and Alejandro G. Inarritu’s TV series The One Percent. Waterston will be seen in the upcoming films Alien: Covenant and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Deadline first reported Swank’s casting, and the Playlist first reported Waterston’s.
