If you had the same reaction to Hillary Duff’s wedding portrait as we did (which is to say, you obsessed over everything from the stunning cape-like feel of her gown to the retro wood-paneled getaway car), you’re in luck. The starlet is revealing more details of her wedding and honeymoon, and one thing seems clear: She’s every bit as over-the-moon happy as she looks in those beyond gorgeous photos. If we weren’t so darn happy for our childhood fave, we’d probably be envious — ’cause it sounds like her first month of marriage to Matthew Koma has been blissful.

“t’s been such a high,” the newlywed told People. “It was the best wedding ever. We had so much fun. We just kept saying, ‘That was the best day of our lives!'”

The fun didn’t end when the backyard celebration wound down, though. The couple made their way to South Africa for a honeymoon, which Duff is opening up about as well.

“We did the coolest things,” she said. “We both had never been on safari and it was what everyone says it is. There are no words. We saw the big five (rhino, lion, tiger, elephant, buffalo) within the first two days! I felt so lucky.”

Of course, the honeymoon also gave Duff and Koma a well-deserved break from the demands of parenthood — they share one-year-old daughter Banks and Duff’s seven-year-old son Luca, whom she shares with ex-husband Mike Comrie.

As far as we see it, Duff’s wedding day and honeymoon had a bit of everything: Romance, adventure, nature, whimsy, glamour, and so much obvious love. But Duff’s firstborn saw one void.

“I came home [from the honeymoon] and I was trying to explain to Luca everything we saw,” Duff tells People. “And he was like, ‘But did you see an iguana?'”
