Hilary Duff Gives the First Look into Her Intimate, Backyard Wedding with Matthew Koma

The Lizzie McGuire and former Disney star, Hilary Duff, finally tied the knot with longtime boyfriend, Matthew Koma, in a private and intimate backyard wedding.

The two had kept their relationship very secretive over the years, but recently provided the internet with the first look into their wedding through an Instagram post that featured the two posing in front of an old station wagon and the traditional 'Just Married' signage, along with empty cans dangling from the car's bumper.

In the post, Duff simply captioned it with the word 'This,' showing her excitement for the start of her new life with Koma.

Maintaining a Low Profile Status

While the newlywed couple's relationship has been mainly kept under wraps and out of the headlines, there has been some news that has surfaced over that time period. Specifically, the two welcomed the birth of their first child in 2018, Banks Violet Bair.

Koma's proposal also received some attention, despite the fact that he wanted to keep it lowkey, knowing Duff wasn't in any particular rush to get engaged. A source close to the couple revealed some details that went into Koma's proposal to Duff and what went into it back in May

A Secret Engagement

The insider, in speaking with E! News shared, "Matthew really wanted to throw Hilary off guard. It was just the two of them on a rooftop outside."

"Matthew wanted it to be meaningful, but casual because he knows Hilary wasn't dying to get engaged," the source added. "She knew it was important to him and he wanted to propose to signify them being a family unit."

Despite Duff's slight resistance to get engaged, family and fans alike knew that they were destined to each other. "Hilary has always known she would be with Matthew forever and having Banks sealed the deal," the source shared.

She Said Yes!

Suffice it to say that Duff said yes. In an Instagram post, Koma and herself are seen posing in a picture with an engagement ring on her finger. She posted the caption, 'He asked me to be his wife!' Koma also posted the same picture on his Instagram account with the caption, 'I asked my best friend to marry me… @hilaryduff.'

With a new daughter and a fresh marriage in their hands, it'd be safe to assume life is going well for the couple. Duff has even been in talks with possibly rebooting the show that put her in the spotlight.

Lizzie McGuire Reboot on Disney+

The reboot of the iconic show, Lizzie McGuire, which is set to be shown on the new Disney+ streaming service has been confirmed to be in the works. As for the release date, it will be some time in 2020.

Just before the release was announced, Duff spoke with Entertainment Tonight, expressing her interest in reviving the character that made her famous. She shared, "I mean I love her so much," she said. "I think she was so important to girls at an important time in their life. If she could be important to them again at this age, I think that would be amazing."
