Hilaria Baldwin slams trolls calling her an 'attention seeker' for speaking out about her miscarriages

Hilaria Baldwin is getting kicked while she’s down. Social media trolls have been attacking The Living Clearly Method author, who’s married to Alec Baldwin, for sharing the news of her recent miscarriage.

“All of a sudden I started getting negative comments about my miscarriage,” Hilaria posted on her Instagram Stories. The 35-year-old fitness expert, who revealed the miscarriage on Nov. 11, noted that the comments included calling her an “‘attention seeker,” “too old” and ”‘disgusting.”

The mom of four continued, “Losing a baby at any stage is hitting rock bottom. Rock bottom sucks. But rock bottom is also eye-opening. Because you understand and experience true pain. It makes the trolls seem even smaller than they usually are. Because no words they use can ever compare to what you have lost.”

Hilaria went on to call out the trolls directly, writing, “Those of you who bully women who suffer as I have are bringing a cruelty to the world that is so wrong. You are contributing to feelings of shame, fear, insufferable pain. It is for this reason that I have stepped forward and shared as I have. Not for attention, but because it is my life story and I decided to open up. You think I wanted this???”

Her final post noted that she is “part of a majority,” as 10 to 20 percent of pregnancies end in miscarriage. “But because of societal pressure, most of us stay silent. And this can be one of the loneliest pains possible.”

She’s chosen to talk about — both this time and when she suffered a miscarriage in the spring — “to know that we aren’t alone” and remind other women that “we are not ‘broken’” and shouldn’t feel “ashamed of this.”

On Nov. 11, Hilaria told her followers that at a routine doctor appointment, her doctor discovered her baby had no heartbeat. She also shared the experience of getting a D&C, to clear her uterine lining.

Hilaria previously suffered a miscarriage in April and bravely spoke about it then too. She said on the Today show soon after that she was sharing her journey publicly “because it's something so many people deal with, and as women, we're trained to deal with it silently. I don't think we have to live with such fear.”

Hilaria and Alec — who are parents to Carmen, 6, Rafael, 4, Leonardo, 3, and Romeo, 1 — made their first public appearance since the miscarriage at an event on Nov. 21. On the red carpet, they told reporters that they will continue to try and grow their family to five. (Alec also has a daughter, 24-year-old model Ireland Baldwin, with ex-wife Kim Basinger.)

“We’re going to have another one, just not now. It’s a question of time,” Alec, 61, said. “It’s been hard,” he added, but it’s only strengthened their bond.“If we were closer … I would be sewn to her,” he added.
