‘Hidden Figures’ Trailer: “We All Get There Together Or We Don’t Get There At All”

20th Century Fox has released a new trailer for Hidden Figures, the Theodore Melfi-directed historical pic that tells the untold true story of three brilliant African American women working at NASA who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history.

Based on Margot Lee Shetterly’s book Hidden Figures: The Story of the African-American Women Who Helped Win the Space Race, the film stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe as Katherine G. Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson, respectively, who performed work that was crucial to American success in the space race and most impactfully, in the successful 1969 Apollo moon landing. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big. Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst, Jim Parsons, Mahershala Ali, Aldis Hodge, Glen Powell & Kimberly Quinn also star. Melfi and Allison Schroeder co-wrote the script and Melfi also produces along with Donna Gigliotti, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Pharrell Williams, who also composed much of the music used in the film.

Hidden Figures, which has been gaining awards season momentum, begins an Oscar-qualifying run in theaters on Christmas Day before going wide on January 6.
