Here's why I Can See Your Voice isn't socially distanced tonight

When I Can See Your Voice airs tonight, viewers might be shocked at how different it looks.
For starters, fans might notice that the panelists of the mystery music game show are sitting very close together, or that host Ken Jeong hugs the episode's contestant. So what gives?
According to Fox, tonight's episode was actually the first episode that the show produced back in March, before the widespread coronavirus lockdowns shut production down. (The episodes are standalone and were not filmed in the order in which they air, which is why this episode is just now airing mid-way through the season.)
The gameplay and set design are slightly different in Wednesday's episode as well, as producers had extended time during the summer to make some tweaks before they were able to film the rest of the series with new coronavirus-related safety restrictions in place.
Some of the differences are visible in an exclusive clip from the new episode, below, which features tonight's celebrity guest panelist Joel McHale.
In the clip, McHale argues that a mystery singer cannot sing because they are a bad lip syncer, prompting Jeong to goad McHale into lip syncing himself, to hilariously bad results.
I Can See Your Voice, which also features a rotating stable of guest music superstars, celebrity panelists, and mainstays Cheryl Hines and Adrienne Bailon-Houghton, airs Wednesdays on Fox after The Masked Singer.
