Here's where in Springfield veterans can get discounts, promotions on Veterans Day

Looking for businesses that are honoring those who served this Veterans Day?

The Springfield News-Leader has complied a list of national and local restaurants, coffee shops and even bakeries that are offering specials, discounts or free meals.

While the News-Leader has done its best to confirm the validity of these offers, please call ahead to ensure that the business is participating in the Veteran's Day promotions. To receive these promotions, veterans and active-duty military members may be required to show their military identification or their discharge form.

Unless noted otherwise, these deals are for Saturday, Nov. 11.

Local businesses offering discounts for those who served

Here are some of the local businesses that are offering discounted or free items and meals.

  • American Legion Post No. 639, 2660 S. Scenic Ave., will serve veterans a free meal of smoked meatloaf "with all the fixings," according to the Facebook event page, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. All other guests can purchase the meal for $10.   • Doggy Style Hot Dogs, 2825 S. Glenstone Ave., is offering 20% off veterans' and active-duty military members' orders all day. Website: www.facebook.com/doggystylefoodtruck; Phone: 417-529-6584.

  • Galloway Station, 1281 E. Republic Road, will offer 50% off regular-priced food and non-alcoholic drinks to all veterans and active-duty military. Website: gallowaystationspringfield.com; Phone: 417-881-9130.

  • Harbell's Grill & Sports Bar, 315 Park Central West, will offer veterans a 20% discount, $2 domestic pints and $3 craft pints from Thursday, Nov. 9, to Sunday, Nov. 12. The sports bar offers a 15% discount to veterans year-round. Website: www.facebook.com/harbells; Phone: 417-507-1919.

  • Hy-Vee's annual Veteran's Day breakfast buffet will take place on Friday, Nov. 10, this year. From 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., veterans can receive a free buffet-style breakfast at 1720 W. Battlefield Road and 2150 E. Sunshine St. They can also get 15% off their grocery purchases at Hy-Vee, Dollar Fresh Market and Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh locations on Nov. 10.

  • MoMo Sushi & Grill, 2767 W. Republic Road, will give those with a military ID 10% off from Friday, Nov. 10, to Friday, Nov. 17. Website: momosushispringfield.com; Phone: 417-360-1067.

  • Mother's Brewing Company, 215 S. Grant Ave., will offer veterans $1 off pints and 15% off merchandise. Website: www.mothersbrewing.com; Phone: 417-862-0423.

  • Springfield Brewing Company, 305 S. Market Ave., will give veterans one free regular-priced draft beer. Website: springfieldbrewingco.com; Phone: 417-832-8277.

Here are the chain restaurant offerings that the News-Leader was able to confirm ahead of Veterans Day.

  • Applebee's is offering veterans a complimentary meal from a limited menu — 6 oz. Top Sirloin, Classic Bacon Cheeseburger, Chicken Tenders Platter, Double Crunch Shrimp, Fiesta Lime Chicken, Oriental Chicken Salad or Three-Cheese Chicken Penne — when they dine in for lunch or dinner and show proof of service, which includes  U.S. Uniformed Services ID Card, U.S. Uniformed Services Retired ID Card, current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), veterans organization card (e.g., American Legion, VFW), photograph of yourself in uniform, wearing uniform, DD214 and citation or commendation. After dining there on Nov. 11, veterans will also receive a $5 "Bounce Back" card for dine-in, to go or delivery "within a three-week redemption window."

  • Casey's General Stores is giving veterans and active-duty military a free coffee or fountain drink of any size on Nov. 11. In addition, Casey's is extending the free coffee or fountain drink offer year-round to active-duty military personnel and on-duty, uniformed first responders including law enforcement, fire and EMS.

  • Chicken Salad Chick is offering a free meal to all veterans and active-duty military on Nov. 11.

  • Chili's is offering free meal from the following options: Old Timer with cheese, chicken bacon ranch quesadillas, three-piece Crispers with fries or chili or soup with a side salad. Dine-in only.

  • Cracker Barrel is offering veterans a free slice of double chocolate fudge Coca-Cola cake with in-store purchase.

  • Denny's is offering military personnel a free original Grand Slam breakfast from 5 a.m. to noon on Friday, Nov. 10.

  • Dunkin' Donuts is offering veterans and active-duty military a free doughnut. No purchase necessary.

  • Einstein Bros. Bagels is offering veterans a free hot or iced coffee of any size with a purchase.

  • Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is giving all veterans and active-duty military who visit their restaurant on Nov. 11 a meal card for a free "Freddy's Original Double with Cheese," which can be redeemed through Nov. 30. The meal includes a choice of fries, applesauce or Baked Lays chips and a medium drink.

  • Hooters is offering veterans a free meal off their "Veteran's Day menu" with the purchase of a beverage. Veterans can choose from the 10-piece boneless Buffalo wings, a Buffalo chicken sandwich, a grilled chicken sandwich, a Buffalo chicken salad or Hooters burger.

  • Huey Magoo's will offer veteran or active military a free five-piece tender meal with fries, toast and coleslaw with the purchase of another five-piece tender meal and two beverages.

  • IHOP is offering veterans who dine in either a free "Red, White & Blueberry Pancakes" or a free pancake combo from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Krispy Kreme is offering veterans a free doughnut of the choice and a free small coffee, hot or iced.

  • Olive Garden is offering veterans who dine in a free entree from a special menu, which includes five of Olive Garden's "most popular entrees," according to a spokesperson. Entrees include first course of soup or salad and garlic breadsticks.

  • Red Lobster is giving printed meal vouchers to veterans, active-duty military and reservists from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 11. The vouchers are for a free veterans shrimp and chips: six fried shrimp served with French fries, coleslaw and cocktail sauce. Vouchers are redeemable for dine-in only from Nov. 13 to Dec. 10.

  • Scooter's Coffee is offering veterans a free drink of any size. The offer is not valid on online orders.

  • Smoothie King is offering a free 20-ounce red (Cherry X-Treme), white (Slim-N-Trim Vanilla) or blue (Blueberry Heaven) smoothie to veterans.

  • Starbucks will offer a free tall (12-ounce) hot or iced brewed coffee to veterans.
