Good things come from New Jersey, the setting of the new rom-com from content creator-turned-musician-turned-actor, Rudy Mancuso. Rudy wrote and stars in Música (which is also his directorial debut), which follows an aspiring young musician from Newark, New Jersey finding his way through career, love, and his Brazilian culture. Riverdale alumna Camila Mendes co-stars in the coming-of-age story and, in another stroke of life imitating art, began dating Rudy IRL while filming.

Rudy Mancuso’s Rudy (yep, his character shares his name) is approaching college graduation, performing on the street for money, and living with his mother: a quarter-life crisis trifecta. Camila plays Isabella, a Brazilian dream girl whom Rudy meets at a fish market, and you can guess where things go from there.

Música features an original soundtrack, which was co-composed by Rudy and Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous creator Dan Lagana.

Where is Música streaming?

Música is streaming on Amazon Prime Video as of this week (April 4) after it initially premiered at SXSW in March 2024. This is the second Amazon Prime rom-com to feature Camila Mendes this year, following the release of Upgraded, which stars the actor as an aspiring artist who meets Mr. Right airborne in first-class (where she was upgraded by chance, or ~divine intervention~).

But what if I don't have Prime Video?

For now, Amazon is gatekeeping this one. Música is only available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, but fear not! If you're still not sold on Prime membership, the film is included in a 30-day free trial of the Prime service.

Before we go...where have I seen Rudy Mancuso before?

Online, Rudy Mancuso has a robust following. The creator started his career on Vine in 2013, the late short-form video app that predated TikTok, finding virality at the intersection of comedy and music. In 2016, Rudy took his talents to YouTube, going on to open for the Brazil run of Justin Bieber’s Purpose World Tour in 2017, appear in Comedy Central’s Drunk History, and perform on YouTube Red's Keys of Christmas with Mariah Carey and DJ Khaled. Rudy went on to build a strong fanbase for his music in Latin America while also collaborating with such artists as Alesso and O.A.R. With the release of his first feature film, Rudy stands as an example of internet fame gone big-budget. With Música, he is blurring the lines between “content creator” and “artist,” to the tune of the music in his head.
