Big changes are underway. As it was confirmed yesterday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will be losing their royal titles which means they will be required to repay the taxpayer funds used to renovate their home in Windsor and will no longer receive public funding. They are, however, free to seek employment elsewhere and will be “financially independent” — but Prince Charles will also be helping them out with finances as well, according to recent news.

“Prince Charles will still continue to offer private financial support,” said royal correspondent Omid Scobie on Twitter along with a series of other updates about the royal family. Scobie also revealed that while the couple will no longer represent The Queen, they will gladly still attend royal engagements, including Trooping the Colour.

This news comes on the heels of Meghan and Harry’s bombshell decision released on Jan. 8 to step down from their royal duties. “We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages,” the statement read. “This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.”

The Queen herself released a supportive statement in honor of the couple and their new future, in which which Harry and Meghan shared on their Instagram page. “Following many months of conversations and more recent discussions, I am pleased that together we have found a constructive and supportive way forward for my grandson and his family. Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be much loved members of my family,” the statement read. “I recognize the challenges they have experienced as a result of intense scrutiny over the last two years and support their wish for a more independent life.”

“It is my whole family’s hope that today’s agreement allows them to start building a happy and peaceful life.”
