Time To Take the Gloves Off
Kathy Griffin is no fan of Donald Trump. Since he's been president, she's been critical of him and his policies, often speaking out about his actions.
So when he was officially impeached by the House of Representatives last night, she must have been overjoyed.
The comedian took to Twitter to express her real feelings about Trump being only the third president in the nation's history to be called out for, specifically, obstruction of justice and abuse of power.
Happy Holidays! You're Impeached
Griffin wrote on Twitter:
"My beloved @SpeakerPelosi, please allow me to politely disagree with you on one point. Yes, The impeachment process should be a solemn and serious constitutional act, but for some of us it’s... #MerryImpeachmas."
Griffin attached a gif of her slowly releasing a middle finger, a move which speaks for itself.
She also used the #Impeachmas hashtag, which makes note of the holiday that's rapidly approaching. People on Twitter responded with similar greetings.
"Merry Impeachmas to all!" wrote @MeghanTraynor.
"Seeing you this happy kathy is a present in itself!" wrote @ChrisHoroshak.
She Has an Idea
Griffin has given Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi a lot of props for staying the course and waiting until the timing was right to bring articles of impeachment before House representatives.
Griffin also made a tweet referencing Pelosi's decision Wednesday night to withhold the articles of impeachment until they reached the Senate, so that Trump could be afforded a fair trial.
"Professor, the Republicans aren’t currently capable of holding a fair trial. The House should impeach him and never send the articles to this corrupt Senate. It will drive him crazy. The “impeached candidate” should be nothing more than that. Then impeach Pence. What a ticket!"
She Made a Mistake
In her book, "Kathy Griffin's Celebrity Run-Ins," Griffin wrote about the president and her experiences meeting him before he took the job. Her view of him wasn't too sunny then, either.
In 2017, though, Griffin took a bit of a wrong turn and posted a picture of her holding up Trump's head without a body. The image was meant to show how dangerous the president is, but it backfired on her.
Her photo was derided from both sides of the aisle, and Griffin had to step away from the spotlight after the error.
"Let's just be honest here - if a conservative did this to a Democrat president the hell brought down on them would be immeasurable."
Let's Bring These Guys Back Together
Because of that controversial photo, Griffin also lost her annual spot ringing in the New Year with Anderson Cooper on CNN. The two had a great chemistry, and Cooper always laughed at her jokes.
Will she ever return to her New Year's post with Anderson?
