Let’s be real: Miley Cyrus has had the dating game on lock for a while now. I mean, she had an adorable thing going with Nick Jonas when they were teenagers, married super-hot Australian actor Liam Hemsworth and (possibly) dated literal supermodel Stella Maxwell. And then ofc there was her fast-moving, PDA-filled relationship with Cody Simpson and current romance with drummer Maxx Morando. TL;DR: We can only wish we had that kind of track record. Along the way, Miley's always been super honest about her feelings, whether she’s in a relationship or enjoying being single. And that’s pretty damn admirable.

These days, people (aka me) are obsessed with the fact that she's dating Liily drummer Maxx Morando after some adorable red carpet pics made their way to the internet. Nick Jonas: 2006 to 2007

Wild, right? Miley and Nick met as 13-year-olds in June 2006 and ended their relationship in December 2007, which is kind of a long time for newly-minted teenagers! The singer talked about the breakup in her book Miles to Go (what, you haven’t read it?), and revealed, “Prince Charming and I broke up on December 19, 2007. The hardest day ever. My life felt like it had ground to a halt, but the rest of the world kept right on rolling. I was on tour. People were counting on me, but my head—no, my heart—was dizzy.”

Ngl, this took me right back to sixth grade in the most devastating way. 😭

Justin Gaston: 2008 to 2009

Miley dated Justin (he’s a singer, in case you’re all???? lol) right before she started seeing Liam. Like, she legit broke things off with him before filming The Last Song. Miley was only 15 at the time while Justin was a good five years older, and in 2008, she told KISS-FM, “After my last two years, there’s been a lot of things that happened, so I’ve learned just not to judge anyone and go into our friendship with an open mind and not really worry about the age or anything.”

Liam Hemsworth: 2009 to 2013

Liam and Miley famously met on the set of The Last Song in the summer of 2009 and fell super hard. Eventually, the celebs went on to make their red carpet debut roughly a year later in March 2010, and just look at how cute they were:

Despite how much America (read: the world) loved the duo, Miley and Liam had a tumultuous relationship from the start, even briefly breaking up in August, getting back together in September, and breaking up again in November. By April 2011, they were back on track and reportedly “taking it slow and just enjoying each other’s company.” Miley was even spotted wearing a ring on that finger at the March 2012 premiere of The Hunger Games in a move that prompted fans to fully spiral:

Sadly, the two broke off their engagement shortly after it was taken (aka in September 2013), and before long, Liam was spotted making out with Eiza Gonzalez.

Kellan Lutz: December 2013

Miley went ahead and rebounded with Liam’s good friend Kellan Lutz right after their breakup. A source at the time shed light on the sitch and told Us Weekly that the Twilight actor reached out, “the next day, they hung out,” and that “they’ve been hooking up ever since.” Like, they even went to the Bahamas together. Okay, Miley!

Jared Leto: February 2014

This is kiiiind of a weird one, but Miley and Jared were fully (by which I mean reportedly lol) hooking up after the Disney Channel alum's split from Kellan, with a source even telling Us Weekly at the time that “she stayed over at his house in L.A. in early February.”

Mike Will Made-It: June 2014

There were a buncha rumors that Miley was dating producer Mike Will Made-It circa the summer of 2014, but for what it’s worth, he fully denied it (see the video below)—sooooo, it looks like this is merely a case of the internet doing the most. As you were!

Patrick Schwarzenegger: November 2014

Miley started dating Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son Patrick in November 2014, and they were spotted alllll over each other at the time:

Oh, and they even went event-official at a Grammys party in February 2015:

But then (!!!) Patrick was spotted packing on the PDA with someone who certainly was not Miley in March 2015—so it wasn’t exactly a lengthy relationship. Although FYI, he hit Twitter and tried to deny anything sus was going on:

Stella Maxwell: Summer 2015

Miley and Stella prompted dating rumors in July 2015 after TMZ snapped pictures of them making out. P.S. Miley also just so happened to make a few appearances on Stella’s Instagram, so:

However, in August of that year, Miley told Elle UK that she considers herself pansexual and isn’t in a relationship: “I’m 22, I’m going on dates, but I change my style every two weeks, let alone who I’m with.”

Liam Hemsworth Again: 2016 to 2019

Three years after their breakup, Miley and Liam caused fans to completely S-P-I-R-A-L when she was spotted with his family in Australia:

A source told People in January 2016 that Miley and Liam were engaged again and the singer was “beyond happy.”

Then, in May 2017, Miley released her love song about Liam titled “Malibu,” which, I gotta say, is pretty heartbreaking to hear these days:

Fast-forward to October 2017, and the couple made a red carpet appearance for the first time in four years:

And in November 2018, the home the couple shared burned down in the Malibu fires. The couple ultimately came out of the experience stronger than ever and just a month later surprised everyone by getting married! Buuuuut in August 2019 (less than a year later!), Miley was pictured without her wedding ring... 👀

Kaitlynn Carter: August 2019 to September 2019

Kaitlynn and Miley were spotted hooking up on the exact same day Miley’s rep confirmed her second split from Liam. After that, their relationship went full steam ahead.

The pair was spotted “basically having sex” at West Hollywood’s Soho House, and Miley even got a tattoo that fans theorized was a shout-out to her Italian vacation with Kaitlynn:

Meanwhile, Kaitlynn was Miley’s date to the 2019 VMAs….

Oh, and they even started officially living together. And just when the duo was spotted wearing matching outfits on September 15, a week later, their split was announced in People with a source saying, “Miley and Kaitlyn broke up. They’re still friends. They’ve been friends forever and were there for each other when they were both getting separated, but they’re just not in a romantic relationship anymore.”

Cody Simpson: October 2019 to August 2020

Miley jumped into a pretty serious relationship with Cody Simpson not long after her breakup with Kaitlynn Carter, and they went public with their PDA right away. Like, not only did they get caught making out at some place called Backyard Bowls Eatery (romantic!!!!)...

...But Cody also wrote a love poem about Miley and a freakin’ song about her:

Oh, and they also got tattoos together! This all happened in the span of one month, mind you. But wait! We’re not done. A few days later, Miley posted a pic with her hand literally in Cody’s pants.

And in November 2019, Miley brought Cody as her date to her brother’s wedding. But then a few weeks later, the tabloids started reporting that the duo had split. Thankfully, it was a false alarm (at the time).

They then continued posting cute pics and messages on social media, including this sweet tribute Miley dedicated to Cody for his b-day in January 2020: “Happy birthday to my best friend in the entire world @CodySimpson. I love you and our pirate life!”

In April of that year, they celebrated six months together, and Cody uploaded this adorable Instagram Story alongside the caption, “6 months with you is worth a lifetime with anybody else. I love you.” Brb, crying.

All seemed good for the next several months as they continued posting sweet pics and saying nice things about each other in interviews, which is why it came as kind of a shock when they announced their breakup in August 2020. And then a few months later, we knew it was *really* over because they unfollowed each other on Instagram.

Maxx Morando: November 2021 to Right TF Now!

Okay, so it seems like Miley took some time to focus on herself after her breakup with Cody. She told an audience at the 2021 BottleRock music festival in Napa that she had taken time to focus on her music.

“I had a theory I would die if I didn’t have a partner,” she said at the time. “If I didn’t have someone to kiss me every single night. But then this was my purpose, but this was taken from me during Covid, so then I found a new purpose, and that’s music, [which] is the glue over the last two years and it was what was keeping us strong at the time,” she added.

But then, in November 2021 (aka more than a year after her breakup with Cody), rumors started flying after she attended Gucci’s Love Parade runway show with drummer Maxx Morando as her date.

Miley also posted pics from the event on her Instagram, including this moody one of her and Maxx that looked straight out of the ’70s.

A couple of sources spoke with E! News about Miley and Maxx's 'ship in January 2022, with one source saying, “She’s happily dating Maxx. It’s official between them.” A second insider confirmed, “They are both artistic and creative, so they bond over being musicians.”

Since then, the singer has been v public about how happy she is with the drummer, whom she even brought to the 2024 Grammys!
