Herbie Hancock, John Paul Jones, and Laurie Anderson are among the artists set to perform at the 2024 Big Ears festival. On Tuesday, the Knoxville, Tennessee-based fest announced its stacked lineup of legends.

The festival is set to be held in downtown Knoxville from March 21 through March 24 with nearly 200 events, including expositions, conversations and film presentations, along with musical performances.

Multi-instrumentalist Fred Frith, band Unwound, Big Thief’s Adrianne Lenker, bluegrass picker Molly Tuttle, hip-hop trio Digable Planets, and Samora Pinderhughes are also featured on the lineup, along with the likes of Fatoumata Diawara, Mexico’s Son Rompe Pera, Kurt Vile & The Violators, and Beth Orton.

“Big Ears is conceived as an adventure,” said Founder and Artistic Director Ashley Capps in a press release. “It’s an opportunity to hear the world’s most exciting musical creators as well as to open up to new ideas and experiences. It spurs the imagination and nourishes the soul. That’s the real magic of Big Ears.”

Pulitzer Prize winner Rhiannon Giddens will be featured in several programs and saxophonist Henry Threadgill will be celebrated by four of his bands. Marc Ribot will be celebrated with a 70th birthday performance alongside Ceramic Dog.

King Britt will curate a four-day Blacktronika program that includes the likes of Carl Craig, Computer Jay, Colloboh, and KMRU.

Nonesuch Records will be celebrating its 60th anniversary with performances from artists including Brad Mehldau, Caroline Shaw, Darcy James Argue, Mary Halvorson, Davóne Tines, Sam Amidon, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Yasmin Williams, along with Giddens, Anderson, and Tuttle.

Four-day general admission passes cost $350, premier tickets begin at $600, and Sonic Explorer VIP passes start at $900. Single day tickets range from $115-$150. Tickets go on sale Thursday at 9 a.m. ET via the festival’s website.
