The 60th Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue debuted Tuesday, featuring one very excited Brittany Mahomes.

Just hours before the issue hit the internet, Mahomes posted pictures from her photo shoot in February along with a behind-the-scenes video set to a song from one of her new friends, Taylor Swift.

You can see her photo shoot here. The spread features more than 40 shots of her, with the lead photo showing her lounging on her side on a white-sand beach in Belize wearing a Chiefs-red bikini.

“Gonna be epic,” she promised her Instagram followers Tuesday.

“Gonna be epic.”
“Gonna be epic.”

And who can help but wonder what message she’s sending by posting one of the videos to these lyrics from Swift’s new song, “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart”?

“‘Cause I’m a real tough kid,

I can handle my s**t

They said, ‘Babe, you gotta fake it ‘til you make it’ and I did

Lights, camera, b***h smile, even when you wanna die

He said he’d love me ...”

The co-owner of the Kansas City Current soccer team and wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes wore mostly red swimsuits in her photos.

SI brought back swimsuit issue veteran Kate Upton for this anniversary, her fourth cover feature. SI regulars Hunter McGrady and Chrissy Teigen, along with TV anchor Gayle King, also scored individual covers.

In addition, Sports Illustrated created a separate, three-photo triptych featuring 27 of its “legendary” swimsuit stars.

“We assembled some of our most influential alumni together for one legendary photo shoot,” MJ Day, who shepherds the annual issue, says on the website.

“Sure, it looks back on history. But more significantly, it’s a window into the present — where we are right now — and a hope for the future.

“The result was nothing short of spectacular. So spectacular that we created three covers, a triptych that speaks to the collective strength, power, beauty and diversity that is what SI Swimsuit looks like at 60.”

Sports illustrated announced in February that Mahomes would be featured, three days before the Chiefs played, and defeated, the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl in Las Vegas.

She is featured as a 2024 Rookie, described by SI as “the epitome of a modern-day powerhouse.”

“The entrepreneur and mom of two will be featured alongside our roster of women who empower, inspire and use their platforms to be both seen and heard,” SI wrote in February.

Her photo shoot took place “on the white sand beaches” in San Pedro Ambergris Caye, Belize, the magazine said.

She got the full-on Sports Illustrated swimsuit treatment: sexy wind-swept beach hair, provocative poses, hair and makeup team at the ready.

Mahomes wears several red swimsuits, including a daring one-piece by Mugler with strategically placed cut-outs. There is nothing “rookie” about the photos, shot by celebrity and fashion photographer Derek Kettela.

“I never in my wildest dreams thought this would happen,” she told SI in an earlier story. “I’m so thankful and honored and so excited to be here with this team.”

That story focused on Mahomes’ accomplishments as a former professional soccer player, fitness trainer and champion of women’s sports, highlighting the creation of the Current stadium built specifically for women.

In February, Sports Illustrated wrote that Mahomes left them “SPEECHLESS” in her rookie debut.

“What an absolute dream to join the incredible @si_swimsuit family!” Mahomes posted on Instagram Tuesday. “I’m so grateful for the amazing team of women who give us this incredible platform to be our truest most authentic selves!”
