Kelly Clarkson shared a touching moment with Henry Winkler, who bestowed some sweet advice for her 8-year-old daughter River Rose Blackstock.

Clarkson chatted with Winkler on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" Tuesday about his upcoming children's book (and series) with Lin Oliver "Detective Duck" (out in October) and his memoir "Being Henry" (out Oct. 31). She applauded Winkler, who has written 38 books, for all his writing accomplishments.

"You're such a successful writer," Clarkson said. "I literally was driving my daughter to school yesterday and she's dyslexic. And you have told me that you're dyslexic as well. And I find that amazing, to tell my daughter that you've written like 40 books and you're dyslexic."

Dyslexia, which results in difficulty reading, impacts as much as 20% of the population, according to the Yale Center for Dyslexia and Creativity. It's the most common neuro-cognitive disorder.

At her daughter's school, Clarkson said, the faculty put on a program about dyslexia, including pointing to celebrities who have been open about their experiences, like Winkler.

"It really empowered her that y’all are so open about it," Clarkson said.

Clarkson said earlier her daughter was bullied at school for her differences as a reader.

Winkler's response to the conversation brought tears to Clarkson's eyes.

"How you learn has nothing to do with how brilliant you are," he said, looking directly into the camera, addressing River.

The "Since U Been Gone" singer joked as she wiped away tears with a tissue that her makeup artist would be upset with her for potentially ruining her makeup.

Clarkson shares her daughter and son, Remington Alexander Blackstock, 7, with Brandon Blackstock. In June 2020, Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock, who was also her manager, after seven years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.

Clarkson has shared bits about the process over the years. In September 2020, she called her life a "little bit of a dumpster" during a TV interview.

Clarkson and Backstock's divorce process was marred by legal encounters including a property battle, a labor dispute over Clarkson's management fees under Blackstock’s firm, as well as a custody battler over their two children. Clarkson was awarded primary custody of the children in November 2020.
