'Superman' Star Henry Cavill Trades in His Cape for a Jedi Robe

Even Superman himself can’t resist a little bit of Comic-Con cosplay.

Last night, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder tweeted a photo of actor Henry Cavill wielding a Vader-red lightsaber and dressed up in Jedi garb, his iconic Superman costume peeking out underneath. Tagged #SuperJedi, the picture set off a fan-frenzy on Twitter: Was this a subtle hint that the stars of Batman v Superman would be making a surprise appearance at Saturday’s Warner Bros. presentation in Hall H? Is it a cheeky way to soothe Star Wars fans who are still bummed by the fact that, by all accounts, Episode VII J.J. Abrams won’t make a stop in San Diego this weekend? Or is Snyder just trying to get his new fan-fic novel, The Caped Crusader of Coruscant, to prospective publishers?

Then again, maybe this is just Snyder’s not-so-subtle attempt to get himself his own piece of the Star Wars franchise: Last year, he was rumored to have been in talks with Lucasfilm about developing a Star Wars spin-off of his own. Though the company denied those reports, there’s always the chance that this picture might serve as Snyder’s reminder that, once he’s done with the D.C. universe, he’d be willing to step into a galaxy far, far away.
