Where is the original Hello Kitty Cafe?

The Hello Kitty Cafe that started it all in the U.S. is at the Irvine Spectrum Center in Irvine, California.

Irvine couple Urania and Charlie Chen were so inspired by the Hello Kitty Cafe in Taiwan that in 2009 they decided to open one in California. After years of trying to get permission from Sanrio, the corporation let the Chens open a Hello Kitty Cafe food truck as a tester before finally allowing them to open a full cafe in 2018.
