8:00 p.m. — “Previously on ‘Hell’s Kitchen’!” In the episode 9, the chefs were given a crash course in business as they learn it takes much more than heart to run a restaurant – it takes money. Following dinner service, Gordon decided to eliminate Sandra from the Red Team, remarking about the 39-year old from New Jersey, “If Sandra wasn’t confident in herself, how could she expect me to be? So long, Sandra.” Who will be eliminated next?

8:05 p.m. — After losing a member of the Red Team, the women hug it out in the dorms and pledge to do better this week. Johnathan and Atoye bond over being the only parents in the house and missing their children. The next morning the chefs head down to the kitchen where Olympian Jordan Chiles is perched on a balance beam. After a showing off a brief routine, Jordan leaves as Gordon introduces today’s challenge. He’ll test all the chefs’ balance and composure by making them race across beams suspended over marinara. Each team will be crossing the beam to pick up ingredients to go with four signature pasta dishes. If they fall off the balance beam they’ll lose their ingredient…and the team that fills out their ingredient board first will win a five-minute head start in the kitchen. Let’s go!

8:20 p.m. — The race is off and everyone does okay except Carmen, who crawls across this beam at a snail’s pace. Sammi is the first to take a marinara bath, setting the Red Team back. They also make a comeback, but it’s too little too late and the Blue Team will win the advantage heading into this challenge. Back in the kitchen, each chef has chosen the pasta dish they wish to execute. When time expires pasta legend Chef Evan Funke walks in to guest judge. Here is the breakdown:

Donya defeats Johnathan
Ryan defeats Carmen
Leigh defeats Atoye & Dahmere
Sammi defeats Jason

By a score of 3-1, the Red Team wins this challenge. For their reward they’ll head out for a goat yoga session. The Blue Team will stay back and make 200 pounds of fresh pasta for tonight’s dinner service. Johnathan opts not to use his punishment pass.

8:35 p.m. — With the Red Team back from their afternoon with the goats and the Blue Team finished with their pasta, it’s time to open Hell’s Kitchen for dinner service. Just minutes in, Atoye hits a bump on the Blue Team when she serves up raw lobster. It’s not an ideal start. Over on the Red Team it’s Donya who’s struggling when she burns scallops. Her second run at them is successful, but it’s Leigh who is impressing Gordon the most. Meanwhile, Atoye’s second attempt at lobster is yet another failure, and at this point she’s crying over a hot stove while Dahmere tries to talk her off the ledge.

8:45 p.m. — Gordon pulls Atoye into the pantry to give her a pep talk. She walks out re-energized and ready to keep fighting for a successful dinner service. The chat appears to have helped Atoye as she begins pushing out perfectly cooked lobster. With appetizers out of the way, it’s time for entrees. Carmen’s first rack of lamb is completely raw. On the Blue Team it’s Jason serving up raw meat when his beef Wellingtons send Gordon into a fury. Back on the Red Team, Carmen has recovered and is now thriving on the meat station, but Donya puts out undercooked fish. This dinner service is not going well.

8:55 p.m. — Gordon pulls Donya into the pantry and tells her that asking for help is not a sign of weakness. He tells her to get it together and sends her back out into the kitchen. Her next attempt at fish is perfect. With Donya regaining her confidence, both teams are sending out entrees at a rapid pace. Both teams finish service on a high, but Gordon can’t declare a winning team. Instead he picks two chefs that were flawless tonight: Leigh and Dahmere. He sends them back to the dorm to each pick two chefs to go up for elimination.

9:01 p.m. — Leigh has nominated Donya and Carmen for elimination. Dahmere has nominated Jason and Atoye. All four step forward and plead their case to stay. Gordon says the person leaving Hell’s Kitchen tonight is Atoye. In closing he states, “Atoye’s passion was admirable, but you need more than just passion to be a great head chef.”
