Another show’s fan base is calling for resurrection after cancellation.
Fox announced Friday that drama “Lucifer” is cancelled after three seasons, a decision that showrunner Joe Henderson said “f—ing hurts.”
“Heartbreaking doesn’t begin to describe,” he added.
Henderson encouraged fans to tweet with the hashtag #SaveLucifer, which started trending on the social media platform on Friday afternoon.
“By the way, the
#Lucifer finale is the best hour of television I’ve been lucky to write,” he continued. “It wraps up everything from the season. But what it teases for Season 4… well, maybe, just maybe, we can #SaveLucifer and show you.”
Star Tom Ellis said he was “gutted” by the cancellation news, and said the Twitter app on his phone kept crashing because of the outpouring of support from fans.
Writer Ildy Modrovich echoed Ellis and Henderson, saying she was “heartbroken, shocked and devastated over the news” and chimed in with her support of the #SaveLucifer hashtag.
Star Lesley-Ann Brandt spoke up on social media, too.
“For the last 3 years I’ve had the privilege of working on Lucifer with some of the most incredible people in this industry,” she said in an Instagram post. “Being your Mazikeen has been so very special to me for so many reasons.”
And fans listened. Check out some reactions below:
