Helios Care celebrates 40 years with country concert
Sep. 21—Helios Care is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a slate of events and programs, including the Grand Oneonta Opry next month.
Formerly Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, Helios Care is a nonprofit organization that provides home hospice and palliative care services in Otsego, Delaware and Schoharie counties.
The Grand Oneonta Opry is a country music fundraiser scheduled for Oct. 21 at Foothills Performing Arts and Civic Center featuring The Driftwoods.
Additional acts include Jason Wicks, Ken Wilber, Beth Patella, Krystal Poole, Stoddard Hollow String Band, Linda Thompson and Nate Gross.
There will be a silent auction, cash bar, and snacks available before the show at 7 p.m., according to a news release.
All proceeds from the event are to benefit the patients of Helios by funding patient care services that are necessary but not covered by insurance.
Tickets are $25 at the door and $20 in advance, and can be purchased online at www.helioscare.org/events or call the Helios Care office at 607-432-6773.
Helios Care raised $1,745 through this year's Mohawk Valley Gives campaign, according to the event's website.
The nonprofit also recently hosted a golf event at the Cobleskill Golf and Country Club.
On Sept. 27, Toscana Northern Italian Grill is slated to host a Dine Out For a Cause night on behalf of Helios. A percentage of the day's proceeds will be donated to Helios Care.
On Nov. 19, Helios' annual tree of lights event remembering and honoring family members and friends is scheduled. Tree ornaments can be purchased to be personalized and placed on one of the lighted trees Cobleskill, Delhi or Oneonta. The trees remain lit throughout the holiday season, according to the Helios website.
On Nov. 23, which is Thanksgiving, the Turkey Trot 5K for Hospice is scheduled. Registrants in the 5k run and 2.5K walk receive long-sleeved race t-shirts and prizes are awarded in several categories.
On Dec. 2, Helios Care is planning a 40th anniversary dinner and awards ceremony at the Otesaga Resort Hotel in Cooperstown.
