Helen Mirren was drawn to her new Amazon Originals anthology series "Solos" by its script, but was surprised by the name on it! "When I read it, I thought, 'Wow, this is such a sensitive investigation of a woman's mind and approach and attitude to life. … And so I thought, 'The woman who wrote this really understands,'" she told Access Hollywood's Zuri Hall. "And then I saw the name David as the writer!" she laughed of creator David Weil. "[I thought,] 'Oh my god, did a man write this? That's amazing.'" Helen also chatted about preparing to shake things up as Shazam's new nemesis Hespera in the superhero flick's sequel. "I actually haven't played a lot of villains. I think [Hespera in] 'Shazam' might be the first one I've played!" she shared. "Solos" premieres May 21 on Amazon Prime Video.
