Heidi Klum Shares a Rare Throwback Photo for Daughter Leni’s Sweet 16 Birthday

Nostalgic mama, alert! Heidi Klum’s oldest child Leni celebrated a milestone birthday on Monday, and Klum couldn’t resist giving her not-so-little-anymore girl a special shout-out on social media. In a rare moment, she shared a photo of Leni — but not just any photo. To toast her daughter turning 16, Klum posted an adorable throwback snapshot of the pair taken more than a decade ago.
In the oh-so-cute memory, Klum stands behind a then-pint-sized Leni, holding what appears to be a sequined bikini top up against her daughter. Standing behind her, Klum wears a wedding dress and veil. The moment came courtesy of Klum and ex-husband Seal’s annual vow renewal ceremony in 2009, that year themed a “Malibu White Trash Wedding.” Since the former couple wed on May 10 and Leni’s birthday is May 4, it stands to reason that she had just turned four at the time Klum’s throwback birthday photo was taken.

“Happy sweet 16 Leni,” Klum captioned the photo, adding, “My kind, loving, smart, funny, beautiful Leni. I am proud to be your mom.” It didn’t take long for Leni to respond to her mom’s social media tribute, writing, “Aww love you mama.” The teen also added several heart emojis.

It’s hard to believe Klum’s first-born is turning 16 today. Doesn’t it seem like just yesterday that news broke Klum had become a mom? She would go on to round out her brood with three more children: sons Henry and Johan and daughter Lou.
A lot else has happened since little Leni was hamming for the camera on her mom’s white trash wedding day. Seal and Klum have since split. And in December 2018, after one year of dating, she and Tokio Hotel guitarist Tom Kaulitz got engaged.
The couple got hitched in a private ceremony in Italy in August 2019. In fact, in recent weeks, rumors have been swirling that they might be expecting their first child. Another little sibling for Leni? Now that would be quite the Sweet 16 present.
