Heidi Klum Proves She's Always Been Photo-Ready With These Throwback Teenage Modeling Pics

As one of the iconic Victoria’s Secret Angels of the late ’90s and 2000s, it’s hard to imagine a world where Heidi Klum isn’t a household name. But, as the pictures she just posted perfectly show, the German model was once an aspiring teenage model taking Polaroids in her home to land her first gig.
The pictures, which were posted by Klum to Instagram, show her at roughly 19 years old posing in a series of swimsuits. Among the looks is a colorful butterfly-inspired one-piece, a plunging black swimsuit with cutouts and a black and white one with an equally high-cut design.

As for her poses, Klum is seen modeling with her arms up, sitting down on the floor, sitting on a chair and much more. As for her facial expressions, she seems to alternate between her signature modelesque gaze at the camera and a goofy smile.
“Similar to how I look at photos and videos of models for [Germany’s Next Top Model], these photos were my application photos for my model competition in 1992,” Klum wrote in the caption in German. “My mom brought me a box of lots of old pictures out of the basement.”

According to Sports Illustrated, it was a mere six years later when Klum landed her big break in the modeling industry as the cover for SI Swimsuit in 1998.
“I remember landing the Sports Illustrated cover and they had millions of readers at the time, and suddenly I had all of these eyeballs on me,” Klum once told Grazia of her sudden rise to fame. “I would walk into a restaurant, and people’s heads would turn and they would start whispering, ‘Isn’t that the girl from the Sports Illustrated cover?’ So, I could definitely feel all of this rumbling and whispering.”
“It propelled me into more of a household name in America, and appearances on TV shows followed,” she continued. “As there was no social media in that day, everyone watched The David Letterman Show, or The Jay Leno Show, or Spin City with Michael J. Fox.”
From then to now, it’s safe to say Klum’s always been one of Hollywood’s biggest showstoppers!
