Heidi arrived at SLO County animal shelter with 9 puppies. Help her find a new family

Heidi is a lovable youngster who arrived at the San Luis Obispo County Animal Services shelter with nine little puppies in tow.

She was just over a year old, not much more than a pup herself.

No owner came to claim Heidi or her sweet family.

Perhaps they felt they couldn’t afford the dogs’ care. For many local households, the cost of a single spay surgery is enough to make it difficult to cover normal monthly expenses.

Thankfully, all shelter dogs, including Heidi, are sprayed or neutered before adoption so they can’t contribute to pet over-population.

We have a new local program helping families in need. To find out more, please visit snipslo.org.

Heidi is a great match for adopters looking for a happy, medium-sized dog who has a joyful nature and thinks people are the best.

Due to Heidi’s size and coat, she’s thought to be a mix of German shepherd and Australian shepherd – both breeds known for their intelligence.

This, coupled with her desire to please and her fondness of treats, makes Heidi fun to train.

Heidi loves to chase balls and, with someone helping her to learn the game, will soon excel at playing fetch.

She’s also learning to lie down on command and has already mastered “sit.”

Heidi is a wonderful mix of playful pup and attentive adult. With her positive outlook on life and engaging personality, it’s hard not to smile at her antics.

Looking to add some love and positive vibes to your life? Come meet Heidi and find your charming four-legged match.
