In an Instagram post on Thursday, the Flip or Flop alum, 42, shared a throwback photo from his high school days when he was a football player. In the shot, he’s rocking an eye-catching platinum blonde hair style.
Gushing over the shot, his wife Heather, 36, immediately took to the comments and wrote, “😍😍😍😍 we totally would have dated in high school 🔥🔥🔥🔥,” followed by Tarek jokingly writing back, “I’m not so sure I would’ve tied myself down😎”
Other users were also digging the HGTV star’s blonde look, asking him to “bring the frosted tips back!!!” in the comments.
While Tarek’s post definitely had fans buzzing over seeing his younger self, the HGTV star's caption was all about reflecting on how different his life has become since that time.
“The pandemic caused so many to miss their 20 year [high school] reunion,” he wrote. “I can’t believe it’s been over 27 years since I took this photo. Time has flown by and so much has changed and so much has happened. If I’ve learned one thing it’s all the stuff I used to worry about didn’t matter anyways.”
He concluded: “If anyone knows how to find a school reunion planner let me know lol. And a huge shout out to all my Sunny Hills High Lancers!”

He opens up about growing up in a rough neighborhood and how that shaped his experiences. "It's part of my story," he told PEOPLE ahead of the book's release. "We're all a product of our environment, and I grew up in that environment. In order to thrive in that environment, you have to do certain things."

After first meeting on a boating trip in July 2019 and immediately hitting it off, Tarek and Heather tied the knot in a Santa Barbara wedding ceremony in Oct. 2021.
The pair welcomed their first child together, son Tristan, 1, in Jan. 2023. Heather is also stepmom to Tarek’s older children — Taylor, 13, and Brayden, 8 — from his previous marriage to ex Christina Hall.
