Heather Morris is honoring her former co-star Naya Rivera with a poignant new tattoo one year after the star's death.

Morris, who starred alongside Rivera on the hit musical television series "Glee," took to Instagram Thursday to pay tribute to her late friend, whom she called "the brightest star in my eyes."

"It hasn’t gotten easier to write a caption," Morris, 34, wrote. "I’m so grateful GOD LAYED A HAND and brought us together as best friends, mom friends, scene partners, and everything in between. Your legacy lives on in kindness and being 'that sassy queen' in my eyes. I love you forever bebe girl"

In addition to a photo of Rivera, Morris also shared a video of herself getting a tattoo. The last picture in her post reveals the new ink on her left forearm, which reads "tomorrow is not promised."

The tattoo borrows from one of Rivera's final tweets. Days before her disappearance, Rivera tweeted a selfie, along with the words: "no matter the year, circumstance, or strifes everyday you're alive is a blessing. make the most of today and every day you are given. tomorrow is not promised"

Thursday marked the one year anniversary of Rivera's disappearance from a boat she rented while out on a Southern California lake with her then-4-year-old son Josey. Days later, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office announced a body found at the lake had been identified as the actress. The Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office later said the 33-year-old actress died from an accidental drowning.

Rivera was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles on July 24, 2020, according to People and Entertainment Tonight, citing the "Glee" star's death certificate. The document also states that the actress died within minutes and that no other significant conditions contributed to her death, according to the outlets.

The following month, Morris shared a tearful video on Instagram mourning Rivera and celebrating the duo's iconic onscreen relationship.

"I want you to know that we are all here with you, that grief looks different on everybody and I want you to be gentle and kind to yourself during this time," Morris said to fans in the video. "I think a lot of you may feel very far away and I hope this message will help you feel closer."

She continued: "I have been feeling very heavy lately. I’ve been feeling this aching in my heart to connect with my fans, to connect with everybody who’s been feeling a little lost and a little confused during this time."
