Heart walks, musical journeys and a faire time: 7 events for this weekend

Sep. 13—It's the last weekend of summer, but the season still has some heart left. Specifically, the New Mexico Heart Walk. The annual event returns with two walks planned for this weekend. Or you can check the pulse of one of these other options this weekend.

1A journey through song

Join State Historian and folk musician Robert Martinez at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, as he takes you on a journey of New Mexico's history and culture through music. The event at the Historic Old San Ysidro Church, 966 Old Church Road in Corrales, is free and open to the public.

2Celebrating Hispanic culture

The Main Library is celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month with the Festival de la Cultura Hispana from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 16. The festival is aimed towards families with children ages 3-18, and features crafts, music, games and more. The Main Library is located at 501 Copper Ave. NW.

3Get that heart pumping

The 2023 New Mexico Heart Walk and 5K Run gets going at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16. The event starts and ends at the Avanyu Plaza at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, 2401 12th St. NW. 4Plants for the people

The Xeric Garden Club of Albuquerque is hosting its final 2023 docent-led tour of its certified wildlife habitat demonstration garden. Lu Lu Sage will speak about "Sustainability Gardening: How Many Species Will This Plant Support," from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16. 5Hear ye! Hear ye!

Head to the Kingdom of Golodrinas for the 15th annual Santa Fe Renaissance Faire, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, and Sunday, Sept. 17. Advance admission runs $10-$18, plus fees, at golondrinas.org. Children 12 and under, Blue Star families and members free. Prices increase day of. El Rancho de Las Golondrinas is located at 334 Los Pinos Road in Santa Fe.

6The Battle of I-25

The UNM Lobo football team will take on the NMSU Aggies at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16. Tickets start at $21, plus fees, at golobos.com. University Stadium is located at 1111 University Blvd. SE.

7Art in the park

PASEO 2023 comes to Kit Carson Park on Friday, Sept. 15, and Saturday, Sept. 16, with immersive artwork from over 30 artists.
