King Princess has shared a cover of Steely Dan’s 1972 classic “Dirty Work,” which she recorded for the new season of HBO series Hacks. The rock number, produced by Ryan Linvill and Slimdan, appeared at the end of the second episode, “Better Late,” and came about thanks to King Princess’ friendship with star Hannah Einbinder.

Hacks is hilarious and so is my good bud, Hannah Einbinder,” King Princess said in a statement. “She asked me to sing ‘Dirty Work’ and it was a no brainer. Everyone should watch this show, it’s tremendously iconic.”

The third season of Hacks premiered on HBO on May 2 with the first two episodes. It stars Einbinder alongside Jean Smart and Carl Clemons-Hopkins. Rolling Stone‘s Alan Sepinwall called the show “one of the most beloved comedies in recent years,” noting that the new episodes don’t rest “on its laurels like it so easily could.”

King Princess released her sophomore album, Hold On Baby, in 2022. She is set to make her acting debut in the forthcoming second season of Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers, which will also star Murray Bartlett, Annie Murphy, and Christine Baranski. The show has yet to get a release date.
