The Off-Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors, starring Jonathan Groff as Seymour, Tammy Blanchard as Audrey, and Christian Borle as the Dentist, Orin Scrivello, is releasing an original cast album on Friday, Dec. 20. EW has an exclusive sneak peek at one of the show’s most iconic production numbers, “Skid Row/Downtown” featuring the entire cast, including Groff and all of the Urchins — Ari Groover, Salome Smith, and Joy Woods.

The album, which will be released at 12 a.m. on Friday by Ghostlight Records, is produced by Little Shop composer Alan Menken, as well as production director Michael Mayer, music supervisor Will Van Dyke, and album producer Frank Wolf. It’s available on all streaming platforms, and a physical CD will be released at a future date still to be announced.

The production’s other original cast members, including Borle, Tom Alan Robbins (Mushnik), Kingsley Leggs (Voice of Audrey II), and the entire ensemble will also feature on the record.

Little Shop of Horrors had quite the 2019 with two buzzy fall productions on opposite coasts. First, a production starring Be More Chill’s George Salazar and Pose’s Mj Rodriguez opened at California’s Pasadena Playhouse before the off-Broadway production opened to critical acclaim in October. The musical, based on a 1960 B-movie of the same name, has been a favorite since it first premiered Off-Broadway in 1982, buoyed by the strength of a 1986 hit film adaptation starring Rick Moranis, Ellen Green, and Steve Martin.

The musical follows Seymour, a down-on-his-luck nebbish florist with a hopeless crush on ditzy co-worker Audrey. When he accidentally discovers a plant with a taste for human flesh, he finds himself thrust into sudden fame, potentially on the verge of getting everything he ever dreamed of — but at what cost? Menken wrote the music alongside long-time writing partner Howard Ashman (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast) who wrote the book and lyrics.
