Better than the messages on those heart-shaped Valentine’s Day candies, “Mine” celebrates finding the woman of your dreams. “‘Mine’ is a record about when you are finally claiming your significant other,” the Slip & Slide Recording artist says in a statement released to Yahoo Music. Ladies have become accustomed to machismo-heavy hip-hop odes that are more about the conquest than romance, but the Swedish-bred singer wins with this sincere rhythmic ballad with doses of drum and bass dropped in.
The song produced by KJ and Joakim includes complimentary lyrics, “I would die if you tell me that you’re mine,” “Tell them other guys stop wasting your time,” and “I want you like treble needs bass.”
The singer who has generated a buzz over the years for releasing a series of singles, including collaborations with Teyana Taylor and Wale, has not set a date yet for his full length release.
