Heading to Boston for 4th of July celebrations? Many parking, traffic restrictions will be in place

Be prepared to navigate around many parking and traffic restrictions if you have plans to head into Boston for Fourth of July celebrations this weekend.

The annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular returns to the Hatch Shell along the Charles River Esplanade for the first time since 2019, and city officials are implementing measures to reduce congestion and illegal parking, Boston police said in a news release.

All of the traffic and parking restrictions that will be in place are listed below.

“Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event” Thursday through Monday (June 30-July 4) signs on the following street:

  • Beacon Street, from David G. Mugar Way to Clarendon Street

“Tow Zone No Stopping Sunday & Monday” (July 3 & 4)  signs on the following streets:

  • Arlington Street, Both sides, from Beacon Street to Commonwealth Avenue

  • Berkeley Street, Both sides, from Marlborough Street to Back Street

  • Clarendon Street, Both sides, from Marlborough Street to Back Street

  • Dartmouth Street, Both sides, from Marlborough Street to Back Street

  • Exeter Street, Both sides, from Marlborough Street to Back Street

  • Beacon Street, Both sides, from Charles Street to Dartmouth Street

  • Back Street, Both sides, from Dartmouth Street to David G Mugar Way

  • Chestnut Street, Both sides, from David G Mugar Way to Brimmer Street

  • Mount Vernon Street, Both sides, from David G Mugar Way to Brimmer Street

  • Pinckney Street, Both sides, from David G Mugar Way to Brimmer Street

  • Revere Street, Both sides, from David G Mugar Way to Charles Street

Boston’s annual Fourth of July parade will be held on Monday beginning at City Hall Plaza. There will be “Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Monday” signs at the following locations:

  • Devonshire Street, Both sides, from State Street to Quake Lane

  • State Street, Both sides, from Congress Street to Washington Street

The annual Chinatown Main Street Festival will be held on Saturday. There will be “Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Saturday” signs on the following streets:

  • Beach Street, Both sides, from J. F. Fitzgerald Expressway Surface Road to Harrison Avenue

  • Hudson Street, Both sides, from Kneeland Street to Beach Street

  • Oxford Street, Both sides, from Beach Street to Essex Street
