HBO Teases New Cowboys and Robots Series, ‘Westworld’

Before Game of Thrones fans watched Jon Snow square off against Ramsay Bolton in “Battle of the Bastards,” they were treated to a trailer for HBO’s new sci-fi show, Westworld. The show is based on the 1973 Michael Crichton movie of the same name and takes place in a futuristic theme park where people can hang out in the Wild West with a bunch of humanoid robots. It’s basically like Jurassic Park but with cowboy robots instead of dinosaurs. In the movie, the robots revolted after a malfunction, and it looks like the series will have some sort of similar revolt.

The first season is 10 episodes and is set to premiere in October with a cast of familiar names, such as Ed Harris, Sir Anthony Hopkins, James Marsden, and Evan Rachel Wood. Fans of the movie are already excited to see what J.J. Abrams and Jonathan Nolan do with this TV version of Westworld.
