HBO renews 'Girls,' 'Veep'

HBO is giving two new comedies a second season.

Writer Lena Dunham’s caustic NYC comedy Girls and the Washington D.C.-based political comedy Veep starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus will both return for another round.

Neither of the recently launched shows has popped in the ratings, though both have been well received by critics. Girls has averaged 3.8 million viewers across all repeats and viewing platforms and Veep has tallied 3.7 million. The comedies will have 10 episodes each in their second seasons.
