HBO CEO Casey Bloys gave a wide-sweeping overview of the network’s upcoming slate of programming during a press event in New York on Thursday, November 2nd. This included the premiere windows for some of its most popular series, like The White Lotus, House of the Dragon, and Euphoria, and a production update on The Last of Us.

Per Variety, Bloys said Season 3 of The White Lotus “probably would have been in play for 2024,” but now won’t be ready to go until 2025. Creator Mike White’s anthology series was just beginning to prep for its latest installment before shutting down this summer due to the now-resolved WGA strike. Season 3 is set to take place in Thailand, with Natasha Rothwell reprising her role from Season 1.

Meanwhile, House of the Dragon Season 2 was officially confirmed for Summer 2024, as Bloys had previously teased earlier this year. Currently in post-production, the show was mostly able to continue filming this summer despite the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, since the majority of its cast is British actors under Equity contracts. Another Game of Thrones spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, is expected to begin shooting this spring.

Just like The White LotusSeason 3 of Sam Levinson’s Euphoria has a release window of 2025. Levinson previously described the episodes as “film noir” and an exploration of “what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world” through the eyes of Zendaya’s Rue.

The It prequel series Welcome to Derry has also been pushed to 2025 after originally being scheduled for Halloween 2024.

In addition, Bloys shared an update about Season 2 of the video game adaptation The Last of Us. Starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, the series from creator Neil Druckmann and showrunner Craig Mazin will begin production in early 2024 while eyeing a 2025 premiere. Druckmann and Mazin should be able to hit the ground running, as both have revealed that they were able to outline the season before the WGA strike began.

During the presentation, Bloys also acknowledged using burner accounts on social media to respond to negative reviews from TV critics.
