HBO Max is filling out its nonfiction programming executive team with three new hires on Monday.
Lizzie Fox and Rebecca Quinn are coming aboard as senior vice president and vice president of nonfiction programming, respectively. Brett Boydstun is joining as senior vice president of nonfiction production. Fox and Quinn will report to Jennifer O’Connell, executive vice president of original nonfiction and kids, while Boydstun reports to Mark Weissman, HBO’s senior vice president of production.
“Nonfiction storytelling will be a crucial component to HBO Max and we now have the leadership and team in place to bring the best this genre has to offer to our offering,” said Kevin Reilly, Chief Content Officer, HBO Max, President, TNT, TBS & truTV.
Boydstun, who will be in charge of production for all nonfiction series, comes from Karga Seven Pictures. Fox is an in-house move, coming over from CNN, while Quinn was most recently at Matt Kunitz’s Pulse Creative. The hires come a few weeks after HBO Max greenlit its first nonfiction programs with the competition series “Legendary” and “The Greatest Space.”
“This senior team is phenomenal, having a formidable wealth of experience in the nonfiction space,” said O’Connell. “As a multi-Emmy winner, Lizzie has a reputation for producing a list of critically-acclaimed and award-winning documentaries and nonfiction series. Rebecca has a proven track record of creating and producing internationally renowned formats and franchises. I’m so fortunate to have this killer team to help build up the HBO Max nonfiction slate with our producing partners, both within the WarnerMedia family, as well as the rest of the creative community.”
“Brett has overseen production at top production companies and produced some of the industry’s most popular hit shows,” said Weissman. “His ability to apply his extensive experience and knowledge on day one has been a great addition to the nonfiction team.”
HBO Max is set to launch next spring. More details will be revealed about the service during an investor day on Oct. 29.
