Haylie Duff Is Excited for Daughter to Start Solids: I Want a 'Little Foodie Baby!'

Her daughter Ryan Ava Erhard is only 4 months old, but Haylie Duff has already achieved an important parenting milestone.

“Last month, we went to Hawaii and to get on the plane for the first time with a baby is so scary,” the host and star of The Real Girl’s Kitchen tells PEOPLE.

“But she was awesome! She slept and nursed the whole way. We had a successful first family vacation.”

And Duff, who is teaming up with Huggies Little Movers Diapers to donate 500,000 diapers to Baby2Baby families in need, says that despite sleepless nights and nonstop days, she doesn’t take a moment for granted.

“There isn’t a single day that I don’t feel grateful that I can provide for my daughter,” says the new mom. “One in three moms struggles to provide clean diapers for their babies. So every time I can put a clean diaper on my daughter, I’m appreciative of that. I have a responsibility to give and to help other moms. We’re all in this together.”

And the cookbook author and blogger has amassed quite a support system of her own, beginning with her fiancé, entrepreneur Matt Rosenberg. “He has turned out to be the best partner,” says Duff.

“He’s happy to get up in the night and do a feeding so I can pump or get some sleep. He’s a natural and I’m very lucky.”

Baby Ryan even has a future built-in best friend with Aunt Hilary Duff‘s 3-year-old son, Luca Cruz. “He enjoys showing her his toys,” says Duff with a laugh.

“And when he goes to Target or Toys ‘R’ Us, he always picks something out for Ryan. The other day his neighbors were talking about having a new baby and Luca looked at Hilary and said, ‘I have a baby too! I have baby Ryan!’ “

For her part, Duff is looking forward to starting Ryan on solids (and maybe even creating a sequel to her successful cookbook).

“I can’t wait to see Ryan’s little face try things,” she shares. “I’m going to give her all different flavors and textures. I hope I have a little foodie baby!”
