The felony domestic violence charges against Hayden Panettiere's ex-boyfriend have been dismissed.

We've learned that in a Los Angeles County Criminal courtroom, prosecutors announced they are dropping all charges against Brian Hickerson. Also, the protective order in place to stay away from the actress, was also dropped.

He appeared in the courtroom earlier today with his celebrity powerhouse attorney Shawn Holley, where he heard the good news.

Hickerson was arrested and charged with domestic violence earlier this year, after he allegedly got physical with the actress and officers observed red marks own her body.

Brian was facing up to 4 years behind bars.

The case was dismissed by prosecutors for under a penal code having to do with timing of the prosecution. But, we're told the main reason for the case being dismissed is Hayden is not cooperating with prosecutors in the case.

As we reported, she was seen out recently with Hickerman's brother, and we're guessing helping prosecute someone in the family is a hard conversation to have with your new man.

The LA County District Attorney's Office originally charged Hayden's BF, with 1 count of felony domestic violence. He plead not guilty, and was released on $50,000 bail.
