‘Hawaii Five-O’ Ratings Top Night, ’20/20′ Down With Gretchen Carlson Sit-down

With a leap into the surf of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy back in 1963, Hawaii Five-O (1.3/5) had a good Friday night – again. On what was a fairly steady primetime, the CBS 50th state drama scored the top spot among adults 18-49 for the third week in a row, even though it dipped a bit from last week.

Still, riding such a wave, the House of Moonves won the night with a 1.2/5 rating and 9.5 million viewers. Five-O bookends MacGyver (1.1/5) and Blue Bloods (1.2/5) were even and down a tenth respectively from their Veterans Day shows. Even though Five-O broke through the 10 million viewership barrier for the first time this year since its Season 7 September 23 debut, the Tom Selleck NYPD family drama once again was the most watched show of a Friday with 10.32 million tuning in to its lead-in’s 10.01 million.

Fox’s Hell’s Kitchen (1.0/4) was down 9% but the ever more tense The Exorcist (0.7/3) reared up 17% in the demo over its November 11 show as its heads to its two-pat season finale starting on December 9. NBC’s Caught On Camera With Nick Cannon (0.7/3) rose a tenth to a season high as did the 9 – 11 PM Dateline NBC (1.1/4)

Over on the CW, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (0.2/1) was even with last week while lead-in The Vampire Diaries was down a tenth. ABC comedies Last Man Standing (1.1/4) and Dr. Ken (0.9/3) were even with last week’s fast affiliates, which went up a tenth for the Tim Allen starring show in the final numbers. Shark Tank (1.2/5) was also the same as its November 11 show.

What was not the same for ABC last night was 20/20 (0.7/3). Despite a highly promoted sit-down with ex-Fox & Friends co-host Gretchen Carlson over the sexual harassment she was subjected to by ex-Fox News Channel boss Roger Ailes, the news mag show fell 36% in the 18-49 demo from the season high of last week. With 4.11 million tuning, in, viewershipwise, last night’s 20/20 was the third best the show has done this season after last week’s Donald Trump profile (5.2 million) and the September 9 season premiere (4.6 million)
