‘Hawaii Five-0′ Ratings Rise Again, ’20/20’ Hits Highs With Donald Trump Profile
If viewers were looking for escapism after a very intense and emotional Election week, CBS provided that with its Friday lineup led by Hawaii Five-0 and MacGyver.
Hawaii Five-0 (1.4 in adults 18-49, 10.2 million viewers) is enjoying a ratings resurgence, which started with its 150th episode last week. The Hawaii-set drama rose another +17% for a total Live+same day adults 18-49 climb of +40% in the past two weeks to match its highest result this season posted by the season premiere. For a second consecutive week, Hawaii Five-0 was the highest rated (and most watched) program on Friday and, with CBS flagship NCIS and freshman Bull pre-empted for Election night coverage, Hawaii-0 is on track to rank as CBS’ highest rated drama of the week. With MacGyver (1.1) steady and Blue Bloods (1.2) up +0.2%, CBS won the night in 18-49 (1.3) as well as total viewers (9.2 million).
While there likely was some fatigue, politics still was a significant draw on Friday, pushing the two newsmagazines to season highs. ABC’s 20/20 (1.1) jumped +39% week-to-week with an episode about the making of President-elect Donald Trump to hit season highs across all major Nielsen metrics, including total viewers (5.2, up +41%). Dateline (1.0) held even with last week to match a season high.
ABC’s Last Man Standing (1.1) was flat, while Dr. Ken (0.9) and Shark Tank (1.2) both were up a tenth. The network logged its highest rated and most watched Friday of the season.
