After a tougher-than-usual case, Poirot discovered Rowena (Kelly Reilly) was behind the mysterious deaths that occurred during the night. To locate and punish the blackmailer who found out what happened to her daughter, Rowena hosted a fake séance, ending up killing the medium (Michelle Yeoh) as well as the family’s doctor, Leslie Ferrier (Jamie Dornan). Unfortunately, none of them was the real blackmailer, who turned out to be the young Leopold Ferrier (Jude Hill).

As incredible as it might sound, Leopold figured out Rowena killed her own daughter, Alicia (Rowan Robinson). When forced by Poirot, Rowena confessed she did it because she didn’t want her daughter to leave her alone and make a life for herself with her fiancé (Kyle Allen). Rowena poisoned Alicia with a hallucinogenic honey that made her mentally unstable.

During one of Alicia’s crises, the maid (Camille Cottin) unknowingly subministrated an accidental, lethal dose of toxic honey, provoking the young woman’s death. When Rowena found her daughter’s dead body, she faked Alicia’s death by throwing her into a canal, blaming the evil spirits inhabiting her palazzo for the girl’s apparent suicide.
