This time of year is always busy in the Jacksonville area, with concerts and festivals and fairs and other things that get people outside. Throw in the Florida-Georgia game and things can get a little crazy.

The big game kicks off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at EverBank Stadium in downtown Jacksonville, but there's plenty to do until then. Some of the events, including an exhibition baseball game and a Vanilla Ice concert, are directly related to the game. Others, such as concerts by Sammy Hagar and Dirty Honey, haunted houses, crop mazes and "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" have nothing to do with it but are more than willing to welcome football fans.

Here's what's going on during the week of the game.

Tuesday, Oct. 24: RV City opens

Hardcore fans start arriving at RV City on Tuesday.

  • RV City opens: The easiest way to tell that this is not your average college football game is RV City, where fans in recreational vehicles start arriving four days before kickoff. The spots in Lot E, across the street from EverBank Stadium near the approaches to the Hart Bridge, sold out months ago. Fans in RV City are some of the most passionate and it’s worth walking through just to see the displays created by Gator Haters and Bulldog Bashers.
