'Hasta la vista, limo': Schwarzenegger crushes limo with his awesome tank

Arnold Schwarzenegger and his tank made an appearance on Jay Leno’s Garage on Thursday. The tank is a 1951 M-47 Patton with a Chrysler V12 gas engine that produces 810 horsepower.

In 1991, Austria decommished the tank and offered it to Schwarzenegger for free — as long as he paid for shipping. Schwarzenegger was happy to drop $20,000 in order to ship the 50-ton tank, because he spent a year in the mid-1960s driving that specific tank in the Austrian military. He said, “That’s exactly the same tank with the 331 number on it. M-47. It’s exactly the tank.”

So what does the former governor of California use his massive tank for? “I bring kids out here from the after-school programs,” he said. When they stay in school, their reward is to come out here and to drive tanks with me.”

Leno and Schwarzenegger took the tank for a ride and even crushed a stretch limo. It looked like the two Hollywood legends had a pretty good time.

Jay Leno’s Garage airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on CNBC.
