Harry Styles Wore a Sheer Top to the 2019 Met Gala and the Internet Seems Pretty Pumped About It

Just when we didn't think it possible, Harry Styles has leveled up the public's expectation of him. Thanks to a flourishing partnership with Gucci, Styles has fully shed his robotic boy-band fits and entered into the world of high fashion. He wears fully patterned suits, heeled boots, and, as of today, nipple-baring black sheer shirts. In a word: damn.

Styles's (ahem) style has been largely fluid, never truly sticking to traditional menswear and introducing more historically feminine details into his outfits-lace detailing, for example. Styles took that to the next level with this fit: a sheer black pussybow shirt and high-waisted, flowy black trousers, plus heeled black patent leather boots. It is a look, indeed. Observe:

The pleated pants stay quiet so the shirt can stand out. Not only is it sheer-showing off an abundance of tattoos-but it's also rife with standout detailing. The pussybow neckline gives way to lace embellishment on the chest, which is not quite opaque enough to cover Harry's upper torso, much to the delight of the general public. The shirt also has puffy detailing down the arm and even more lace at the wrist.

Of course, he wraps the look with equally showy accessories: a pearl earring, stacked rings, and fully painted nails, which coordinate with his outfit.

The internet's reaction has been powerful, to say the least. Many are into the looks, thanking Styles for his gender-fluid styling and commitment to the theme:

Styles, one of the Met Gala hosts of the night, is exaggerated, fluid, and unexpected-right on theme for the night. (If you're still confused on what exactly the "camp" theme is, check out our explainer here.) Harry Styles: style icon of our generation.
