This Harry Potter-themed classroom will leave you spellbound

Hogwarts has relocated to Hillsboro, Oregon.

With school getting back in session, schools and teachers are looking for any way to get incoming students excited. But it’s hard to think of a better strategy than the one Kyle Hubler, of Evergreen Middle School, thought up and publicly revealed last week: transforming his classroom into a Hogwarts-themed wonderland.

“The best part was hearing the audible gasps,” Hubler told ABC News. “[Students’] jaws dropped to the floor and they froze for second and then they rushed in and swarmed everywhere. Kids were in every corner of the classroom. They wanted to look at every detail.”

Hubler, a Harry Potter fan since middle school, has been collecting Hogwarts paraphernalia since he was a kid, and was able to put the habit to good use. Despite the elaborate decorative effort, the cost was kept under $400.

Dekking his classroom out from top to bottom and corner to corner with spectacular Harry Potter details, Hubler shared images of his work on Facebook — instantly emerging as a viral sensation. You’ll have to look through his gallery yourself (posted above) to spot each of the dozens of references and knick-knacks, but rest assured that the process reportedly took about 70 hours to complete.

“I started coming into school about five weeks before the students arrived,” Hubler said to ABC News. “My principal was excited and he was looking forward to seeing the students’ reactions. A lot of my coworkers I showed were all amazed by it as well.” Now that’s dedication. Professor McGonagall would be pleased.
